Should You Work 9 to 5 For Someone Else or For Yourself Online?

by JadeDragon on April 14, 2010

I’m a big fan of Pat Flynn of SmartPassiveIncome.com He is one of my main inspirations to keep building an online business. Pat just released an interesting video that should make you think.

I will withhold comment on Pat’s choice of attire, but in the video presentation Pat only touches on some of the options you can follow with an online business. Can you think of others?

I really liked the video even as simple as it was. Does he just write on his walls/doors in eraseable ink or did he cover his walls/doors with whiteboard and just uses dry erase markers?

He just set up an office, bought whiteboard sheets at Home Depot and stuck them up. Darn good idea – this is the first I’ve seen the result after Pat blogged about the plan to use whiteboards.

I saw the video last night and I thought it was great. Shows you the possibilities of what you can do online on your own. Not even specific to your own business. The potential is huge and I’m excited.

I noticed his shorts and shirt but not the whiteboard sheets. Will have to check it out again.

Jade,

Those white boards are cool as seems great way to stay organized. On other topic seems like Ehow now begging for content by sending emails asking ppl to contribute. Here Im still waiting on Google so can start submitting to Xomba. Emailed some top contributors on firehow, one said with 500+ articles hes still only earning 35 a month.

I understand they are very reasonably priced too. I think the door might be white board paint. The “Pat” with the arrow is a nice touch.

Jade – I just wanted to say thanks for posting my vid and sharing it with your readers!

@Cobrakai – the walls behind me (on the right side of the video) are actually whiteboards that I purchased from Home Depot for $13 each (each is 8×4, but I cut then down to match the door height). The white space behind me to the left are actually sliding doors to the closet. I painted dry erase marker paint on them. A small can that can paint one wall is about $20, but it’s been totally worth it! I write my ideas and flow charts all of the time.

@Moon – Haha, when I was editing the video I noticed the shorts too but said, “What the hey.” LOL. They are actually basketball shorts from my Alma Mater, Cal.

Thanks again JadeDragon!

Very well worth the small investment in brainstorming space.
