Author Interview: GeVonna

by JadeDragon on February 27, 2012

A former media personality, GeVonna now styles herself as a Creative Entrepreneur which encompasses acting, speaking and all of her creative endeavors. She was born and raised in Chicago, and still lives in the Windy City, but she is a graduate of the University of Kansas, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Broadcast Journalism.

GeVonna’s background in radio and television includes news and sports reporting, anchoring, on-air personality and TV talk show host. She’s known as a warm and colorful interviewer. GeVonna is currently working on several projects, including her next infotainment book, From Fired to Fired Up and a film, Just a Pew Away based on one of the chapters from Busted: Cyberstyle, which she will star in and/or direct. Single, of course, GeVonna loves to travel and learn new languages.  She has been Internet dating on and off for over ten years and talks about it every chance she gets.

Welcome to Innovative Passive Income GeVonna.  Thanks for taking the time to answer some questions that other aspiring writers may have.

Busted: Cyberstyle: An Undercover Approach to Online Dating

What is your latest writing project?

My first book “Busted: Cyberstyle…An Undercover Approach to Online Dating” is available already on Amazon.

In my upcoming book, “From Fired to Fired Up” I share my humorous stories of being let go and how I managed to hang in there through it all. So that audience would be for anyone needing that extra push after being knocked down.

In the fall, I’ve got another book, “Catch Your Cold Before Your Cold Catches You.” That’s geared to almost anyone trying to stay cold-free, although I tell people to check with their doctor first before beginning the journey.

Who is your target audience and how did you select it?

Most of my writing is based on personal experience or observation so I don’t have a target audience per se, it more depends on the book. “Busted: Cyberstyle“ (available on Amazon) is geared to anyone who does or is interested in Internet dating. Since the book reads like a novel based on my personal escapades, some of my married friends enjoy the read too.

From Fired to Fired Up is an inspirational book about stories of being let go with a humorous twist. I see the positives in each situation - a glass half full kind of girl who makes lemonade out of lemons for that half full glass of water. It will have a wide audience, especially in this economy.

How did you get started as a writer?

I’ve been writing since I was a kid. However, I don’t label myself as a writer. I just have all of these things or stories, ideas if you will, going on inside of my head and I have to let them out. So many are still in there. I have to let them out soon before I forget the really good stuff.

Why do you readers like your work?

I think readers like my work because I’m honest and I have tend to add a bit of humor. Not only that, my books typically are an easy read.

This is really interesting to know someone who wouldn’t label herself as a write even she started writing early as a kid. The interview should come as an inspiration to anyone who has some ideas to express. If you have something really unique to say, you should get ready to express it in a way that you target audience would love to read.

Thanks for this share.
