It looks like www.life123.com‘s model of paying writers by the view did not work too well.
“Thank you for participating in the Life123 Writer’s Community beta launched last fall. We regret to inform you that we are closing the program at this time and are no longer accepting new submissions.
If you have submitted an article that was published on Life123.com between October 13th, 2009 and January 27th, 2010, AND have entered valid PayPal account details by January 29th, 2010, Life123 will pay the $20 maximum rate for each eligible article.
Payments will be made prior to the end of February 2010. Thanks again for your work.
If you have any questions about items other than payment, please write to editorialdesk@life123.com“
The site remains live, full of content. At least they are treating the writers well by paying out the full $20 an article.
Here is a review of the way the payment structure used to be.
A good alternative site that is adsense revenue, not views based like Life123 was, is Xomba.
I’d love to hear feedback from writers who worked with Life123. Do you feel fairly treated?

Life123 was going to be one of my major sources of income for 2010 according to my business plan… I had to scramble to find another option. I settled on Xomba, Squidoo, and Hubpages but still – life123 had a good thing going. I wonder why it closed.
Life123 was great. Only thing wrong with it was the $20 max payout, but that didn’t bother me much at all.
However, it is coming to the end of feb, and i have yet to receive my money. It says payments will be made by the end of feb, and they always pay on Tuesdays, so i am giving it until the first Tuesday in march to complain. I have faith though, because they have always paid in the past.
Has anyone received pay from life123 since they closed up?
Thanks for coming by and giving an update. I hope the writers get paid too. Let me know how it works out ok?
I did get paid for my one and only article on Life123 as promised. It’s a funny thing though, the reason they only got one article out of me is because I doubted the payment model. I knew it wouldn’t last!
Anyone who has their own web site can concur that, while it’s great to have lots of views, they don’t always convert to ad clicks which are the ONLY way a web site such as this earns money UNLESS you have a product of your own to sell!.
Ads are the only source of income!
Payment based solely upon views is a flawed system doomed to fail.
Life123 got their article base and can now float off into the sunset with minimal submissions from owner submitted articles while collecting residual income from the ads for eternity.
It was a test, only a test.
Anyone want to donate to my article base? I’ll just love you forever! (I’m not paying but I’ll love you forever!) LOL!
I like your http://midlifemagazine.com site Shari. Nice clean design. Where do you get your articles actually?
Thanks, Jade! My articles? All in my mind! I decided I do not want to depend on the whims of another web site to publish what I write so I write purely to satisfy myself. I guess I just like to see myself in print!
Well kudos to you for all the content. I also like to control my best work right here, but I use other sites to post on too because I need to write about them with authority (and earn some bucks).
Well, I added a little link love to my article in your direction. Write on!
Thanks so much :)
